I have never lost respect for a company so much as I have Lucid because of interviews. I used to think they were a preeminent tech company in Utah, one of the true Silicon Slopes success stories. But every interview has shown a mess of incompetent people and having worked with former employees of theirs, I've always been shocked by how little they learned from their time here. The recruiters are stupendously obtuse. According to one, all they're looking for in the UX position is someone who "Knows how to use Figma". And what team will this designer be working on? You know - a normal question to learn about what part of the product you'd be working on - "This position will be on the UX team". I mean. How are you even supposed to hold a conversation when you're given such entirely stupid answers? It was very clear that this recruiter knew absolutely nothing about UX by the few questions he did ask. They are late to every interview. Truly. Haven't had a single 1 where people showed up on time. Look. There's a lot more I could say. I've seen plenty of incomprehensible things from this company. But for the sake of anonymity, I'm going to refrain. The upshot of this review is simply to say that I don't think Lucid is the great place many of imagine it to be. There's a lot of stuck up people there and they are entirely unqualified to be this stuck up. It might be a decent spot to simply earn money, do relatively little, and have a reasonably big name on your resume, but if you want to actually grow as a designer or learn much about the product world, you would need to find development time outside of your work here. Lucid ain't it. And let's face it - the product is just a poor version of Figjam and Miro anyway.
