J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez LiveFlow en mai 2025
Entretien
- Meeting with the CTO and Co-Founder
- Take-home challenge. Could choose JS, Elixir or Clojure. A piece of code that has to be improved
- Take-home follow-up with Engineer
I should'nt have done it. I am not proficient in any of those languages and, even when they said it doesn't matter, it did.

Question 1
In the challenge:
- Improve the efficiency, batch requests
- Improve/add unit tests
J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 7 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez LiveFlow en juil. 2025
Entretien
Five rounds total. Usually took around 5-7 days to hear back between rounds. Overall pretty normal. Some things included an initial screening call, a technical take home where you basically review a piece of sample code and make a PR improving it, recording a video detailing your changes, a session describing a project you worked on, and a few more generic "tell us about yourself"-style interviews. After the final round, the company declined to provide feedback beyond not being a full "cultural fit". Ironically, they included a survey asking for detailed feedback regarding various aspects of their process.

Question 1
What was a larger-scale project that you lead and how was it designed?
J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez LiveFlow (Londres, Angleterre) en mai 2025
Entretien
Process Overview
The session was presented as a "technical retrospective." Two interviewers were present.
1. Interviewer Preparedness
* Neither interviewer offered introductory context. I initiated the introductions to clarify roles and objectives.
* No guidance or structure was provided beyond a vague opening prompt.
2. Professional Demeanour
* One interviewer displayed persistent irritation, likely stemming from a technical-depth mismatch. Throughout, he maintained closed body language and, at one point, laughed quietly in response to a genuine question.
* Gestures of basic collegiality (e.g., eye contact, nods) were notably absent.
3. Agenda Compliance
* The published agenda reserved time at the end for candidate questions. After my third query, the irritated interviewer stated, "We must be mindful of the time," despite the pair having exceeded their own allocated segment and leaving exactly three minutes for questions.
4. Closure
* The interview terminated abruptly without summary, next-step outline.
Conclusion
The interview team needs basic training on how to run an interview, manage time, and treat candidates. Until then, expect a poor experience.

Question 1
We'll do a technical deep dive into a specific project you have worked on. We are looking to understand its technical complexities, trade-offs you made and how you thought about those trade-offs. We're interested in the solutions you implemented and what you would do differently with the benefit of hindsight. You should also be able to connect your work back to the overall business or product strategy.
