The hiring process was straightforward. I received a call one morning from the HR of the company, asking me to come in for an interview for the position of Content Writer. Upon reaching the company, I was given a written test, comprising of two parts. One was the basic grammar test; and the second was a section about creating coupons. We had to use the data given to create meaningful coupons (like the ones we see in the "Offers" section of apps like Myntra and Amazon and so on). It was a boring and mindless process, as it included editing words for spellings & punctuation and then re-arranging the words to form meaningful sentences. It had nothing whatsoever to do with actual content creation. Post this test, I was asked to meet the content manager, who proceeded to tell me that the role on offer was for that of a Catalogue writer and not content writer. Safe to say that I was taken aback at the misinformation from their end, regarding the role on offer. The interview was very easy. The very next day, I received confirmation that I had got the job and that I was to report to work the very next day. But, given that the role was not what I wanted to apply for, I rejected their offer. The only thing I did not like in the overall process was how unprofessional and immature the HR behaved, when I informed them of my decision not to take up the job.
