The good: The hiring manager was extremely nice during the interview process and kept me updated regularly about the timelines and general follow-ups
The bad: The recruiter kept dropping the ball with various sync-ups that was supposed to happen.
The weird: One of the employees mentioned how seriously they take diversity and that they "need to have diverse candidates at least interview for a role". The role I applied for had multiple other internal candidates who eventually were selected. I think I realized later that I just was put along in the interview process because I checked 2-3 different diversity boxes. They wanted me to interview for more roles, I declined as I didn't want to be the token diversity candidate.

Question 1
How would you ensure your reports get to work on things that help grow their career.
Was referred by a friend, had 3 phone chats, with HR, hiring manager, and another manager. Did a coding test and then onsite-6 people. The team was friendly and open. The recruiter, however, was not.
Communication was terrible throughout the process, many stages of interview was set up one or two days in advance, due to lack of planning. After my on-site I followed up several times, but HR never got back. It’s as if HR team as too busy planning their next vacation. The whole process was a big waste of time.
