After applying, received an email (not form email) with additional questions. Upon answering, was scheduled for a phone interview. Had about 30-40 minute phone interview. Have not heard back since. I understand the need to not respond to candidates who aren't being considered as these could easily be hundreds of applicants but in this situation, after email correspondence and telephone interview, the right thing to do is to at least send an email to notify that the candidacy won't be continuing.
