I applied for a job as software engineer several years ago, after some days I was invited for an interview via phone. Everything went fine until I asked for the possibility of part time or home office in an innocent manner. The result was resounding laughter of several people. Ok, then not, strange and unprofessional behavior. The years went by and from time to time headhunters asked me if I want to work for Leica. After ~12 years passed, I was contacted again with an interesting sounding job offer and I decided to give them a second chance. Also, they would have be much nearer than the company I was working for. There seemed to be time pressure and I made hell freeze to make their online job interview possible as soon as I could. I was sitting at home in front of my computer at the agreed time, waiting for the interview to begin. Hm, nobody here? May be some technical problems? After waiting some minutes, I checked my email. I do not remember the exact time difference, but only *minutes* before the job interview, I got an email dropped that the interview has been cancelled because "the manager involved does not have time". I contacted HR and asked, polite and cautious, if they are really interested in me. To my surprise I got a very rude answer, the tenor of which was: "if you ask such stupid questions you are the wrong person for the job anyway". Since then, I forward every further headhunter message regarding Leica to /dev/null. My advice to applicants: Expect nothing. Expect to to be treated in an impertinent manner. Ask yourself, why this company is constantly seeking so many people.
