After sending my resume I was contacted within a couple of days for a phone interview. I spoke with a design director and the discipline leader for the company. They asked a lot about the part I played on projects on my resume and portfolio. It was a very typical interview.

I applied online, I was contacted to schedule a phone interview with HR. They never called so finally I called them, no answer.. called the receptionist and she said the HR person would have to call me back. Finally got through she seemed annoyed and didn’t talk to me very long. I have followed up and have had 0 communication since then.

The interview process was simple. I sent over my portfolio via email and the design director contacted me within a few days. We set up a WebEx interview in which she asked about my skill sets. She then casually called me into the office to meet the team and share a meal to discuss a position.

Initial communication and appointment for interview were setup through a recruiter who supposedly had a very good business relationship with them. Interview was fairly short... didn't ask me a lot of questions, just talked a lot about what they're doing as a company and where they're going. Recruiter said company culture was like a family & everyone spent time together in and out of the office. When I inquired about this, I did not get the same response. I was also told during the interview that they have a "Midwest" mentality and are slow to change.
