I received an email within 24 hours of applying requesting an interview and thought, “wow that’s awesome, such a quick turnaround.” An interview was scheduled, and within 5 minutes of the interview, the interviewer walked out of the screen for over a minute. Asked me to share about myself, and quite literally walked away. I know some big companies have tactics to see how the candidate will react to unexpected things, but truthfully I was offended by this. If I as a candidate would have done that very thing, I would have been disqualified from the process. Do better and show the same respect to your candidates that you expect to receive. When they returned to the screen, they then were fidgeting with their chair, standing behind it and swiveling.. just so unprofessional. I removed my application from further consideration.
I also have very good experience in the roles I have had and knew I could bring some great things to this company, but the interview felt very old school in the sense that I felt like they wanted me to feel intimidated/small, and I knew from the beginning this was not a company I wanted to work for. Such a shame when they boast about their culture and how they value their people. If that’s how y’all view treating people well and how you do things, no thanks.
