      Basic bread & butter questions for the position. No curve balls. Kept it very simple and clean. This was no harder than a typical interview for the position. Simple, simple, simple.

      My experience with Knock’s interview process was extremely unprofessional, especially considering they recruited me. I was not even looking for a new job when they reached out on LinkedIn, stating that my strong background in mortgage processing made me a great fit for their Senior Loan Processor role. Throughout the process, I was given every indication that I was moving forward — including discussions about a potential start date and whether I had any upcoming vacations that could interfere with training. Those conversations create expectations, especially when they initiated contact. I was then given a homework assignment, which I completed thoroughly and confidently. Immediately after submitting it, I was told they were “moving in a different direction,” with zero feedback or explanation. The abrupt reversal — right after discussing onboarding logistics and after I invested time in an assignment — felt misleading and disrespectful. If this is how they treat candidates they actively pursue, I can only imagine the inconsistency internally. This process wasted my time and created false expectations. Candidates deserve honesty and transparency, not mixed messages and sudden shutdowns. I would advise others to approach their hiring process with caution.

      Hello, and thank you for taking the time to share your experience. That is not the impression we intend to leave with any candidate. Our goal in reaching out to professionals on LinkedIn is to start a conversation with professionals whose background shows strong potential for an open position, offering them a chance to learn more about the opportunity. While early conversations may include discussions around availability or potential start timing, these are standard questions asked of all candidates to ensure alignment with onboarding and training requirements. Our interview process includes multiple steps designed to fairly and consistently evaluate role-specific skills. The take-home assignment is a critical part of that evaluation and is reviewed against a defined rubric set by the hiring team. In some cases, despite strong conversations and relevant experience, the assignment does not meet the expectations required for the role and we are not able to move forward with the candidate for that specific position. We recognize that completing an assignment requires time and effort, and we don’t take that lightly. We understand how the outcome can be frustrating—especially after positive discussions. We follow up with everyone in a timely manner and constructive feedback is available upon request, and we’re happy to provide additional context when asked. We appreciate you engaging with our process and wish you continued success in your career ahead.
