I saw an ad online for a summer internship with Killer and, thoroughly impressed with the work they do, decided to apply. I was then invited to do a phone interview but, while researching the company further, I stumbled across the review on this site (along with another blog post). I became slightly concerned about the nature of the internship (slave labor comes to mind) but thought that, since these posts are nearly 5 years' old, I'd give it a shot and hope things had changed. I can confidently report that they haven't. If you do this internship, you will be making a pact with the devil. Duties include: doing Starbucks runs, doing laundry, picking up kitty litter - essentially being a slave to the three co-founders. Sure, unpaid internships are the norm in this industry, and of course we all have to 'pay our dues', but the work should at least have SOME relevance to the business. Future employers might be impressed with 'Killer Films' on my resume, but how do you think they'd feel about the list of tasks below? Any monkey can pick up coffee and buy groceries. I'm happy to do menial tasks (and have done more than my share on previous internships) but there's always a chance to prove yourself as well with some harder tasks - after all, how can anyone impress enough to gain future employment when just collecting coffee?
