The interview process begins with an application online. During application, there is a short aptitude test. If you reach the cut off mark of this simple test, you then proceed to the in-person assessment which is an aptitude test conducted at their offices at ABC Place. The aptitude test consists of numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, situational judgement test (SJTs) and logical reasoning. This test was about 40- 45 minutes long. The test is online and once you finish with a page, you cannot go back.
If you're successful in this stage, you then proceed to the Group Interview. You're organized in groups of about 8 - 10 and given a case study; you're given a few minutes to read it on your own and come up with solutions then you get to discuss your various points. You then finally get one or two people to present on your behalf. After this exercise, you get to choose 3 different business areas you would like to work in if you get the job. It would be wise to review their website to get a better understanding of the various departments/business units they have.
If you're successful in this stage, you then proceed to the Manager's Interview where you're interviewed by 2 managers and a HR person. Questions asked here include: tell us about yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, KPMG values, current issues that may affect KPMG as a whole, how do you motivate others, have you ever been in a leadership position, what are your personal values, salary requirements, how do you handle a major mistake in your work....etc. You're then given a chance to ask one question.
If you're successful at this stage, you then proceed to the Partner's interview where you interview with 2 Partners and a HR person. The questions asked in this stage may include: where do you see yourself in 5 years, what motivates you, who is your greatest inspiration, 3 words you'd use to describe yourself, what keeps you up at night, what do you know about this department, why do you want to work in this department and not any other, have you applied to our competitors, what do you know about KPMG, why KPMG, greatest failure, greatest achievement, favourite animal and why, favourite colour and why...etc. This interview was about 20 - 30 minutes. At this stage, they mostly want to know more about you and what makes you tick. You're also given a chance to ask a question.
TIPS:
During the group interview, do not interrupt your fellow group mates, make sure the suggestions you give are unique and relevant so as to stand out of the crowd and remember the loudest and most dominant person in the group doesn't always proceed to the next stage.
Asking questions during the manager's and partner's interview gives you a good opportunity to learn more about the people and the culture of the organization
A power suit really makes you feel more confident.
