      I only participated in the phone interview however it was a below average interview. Certain important questions I had about the role, the recruiter was unable to answer. I have worked in HR for several years and interview individuals all the time. It is really important to be knowledgeable about the role you are interviewing individuals for. If you don't know the answer, you offer to get back to that person - even if you don't plan on moving forward. It's a good look for the company. One important interview tip is to really play up your excitement on their company culture. One of the first things the recruiter mentioned to me was that they are big on staff events. It is clear that Justworks hires mostly for culture fit rather than skill set. Also, I can't help but think that there was some sort of bias in their hiring process. If you research the company, everyone on their HR team is a young white female. I am sure they ended up filling this role with someone like that.

      Had a phone interview first. That went well. I was invited to meet the People Ops team. First off, the interviewer who I met with couldn’t find the conference room we were supposed to interview in. Second, all three interviewers I met with barely asked me HR related questions. One of the interviewers consistently cut me off while I was speaking and was trying to find flaws in my resume; she spent several minutes critiquing my resume, as opposed to asking me pertinent questions about my experience. I didn’t come in for a resume critique; I came in for an interview. Interestingly all interviewers commended me on my extensive background in people operations, yet I did not receive the role. I asked for feedback on my application, but never got a response. Perhaps some bias or discrimination going on.

      I applied online on a Friday and heard back early the next week. I had a phone screening with a recruiter, which went really well. We ended the call on a high note. We scheduled an in-person interview for the following week. A few hours before the in-person interview, I received an email from the recruiter saying the position was filled. I had a great outlook on Justworks until this moment. This was a really disrespectful email to receive. Please learn to respect your candidates.

      We are very sorry that your last interaction with us left you feeling disrespected. As candidates go through the interviewing process at different times and at different speed it happens that we have somebody at a late stage when others are at an early stage. We had the difficult choice to either go through with the interview when we just received the acceptance of our offer from another candidate or let you know via email about the change to avoid ill-using your time.
