Entretien
First round was digital video interview round. Questions were behavioral in nature. First round decision came after 2 days. Second round was a phone screen for 20 mins. Questions were focused on resume, experience and cultural fit for the role. Interview was positive.
Interviewer contacted me next day to set up a phone interview. I scheduled the phone interview in the same week. Interview with hiring manager went very well. Questions were focused on my experience. Interviewer was very conversational and wanted to know in detail about my experience. Phone interview lasted 45 minutes. I felt a positive vibe from the hiring manager. After a couple of days, hiring manager sent me an email on a Monday saying J&J was interested in moving forward with a site interview. I was told that a final decision would be made in a week as J&J was looking to fill this position asap. Hiring manager also told me that J&J preferred to have site interviews completed end of the week. I moved my meetings, cleared my work schedule and notified J&J I would be available for F2F interview on Wednesday. I drove 120 miles and spent 3 hours to drive to Fort Washington, PA from New Jersey.
On site at J&J offices in Fort Washington, PA, interviews lasted for over 3 hours with 3 1:1 interviews with hiring managers and members from cross-functional teams. All along, I was given the impression by all three interviewers (especially Hiring Manager) that I’m a strong candidate for the role. After the interview, I was told by the hiring manager that a decision would be made in 3 days.
I requested an update from recruiter after 5 days. There was no response. After 10 days, hiring manager sent me a note saying she wanted to talk. On the call, hiring manager told me that she had decided to go with an internal candidate, which I found extremely frustrating. I spent hours interviewing for multiple rounds. All along, I was misled by HR and hiring manager. During the interview process, I was never told I was competing with an internal candidate. I would not have wasted my precious time interviewing at J&J if I knew this was going to be outcome. I spent hours interviewing for all rounds. I cleared my schedule and took a day off for the site interviews. I spent 3 hours and drove 120 miles to Fort Washington, PA from NJ. J&J did not reimburse me for the trip. I am extremely dissatisfied with J&J interview process.

I was an internal candidate that applied through the intranet...heard back within a week from HR to schedule interviews. It was pretty simple since I had already extensive experience within the organization, it was just a matter of time of coordinating with HR and the respective interview panelists.
