Was very passionate about this position. After feedback from my hiring manager, this is the one thing that he could "feel" during the interview process and said he knew I was going to be his hire the very day he met me. Materials for the interview: Brag book full of awards and career / education history. Did a territory analysis as to my action steps to get the business if hired. Went around to customers and potential customers and interviewed them about the position. Asked questions like, "what would it take for you agree to purchase from this company?" "What are the obstacles?" What are your best reps doing that make them "your best reps?" Put this analysis together with names departments, etc. and had a few paragraphs as to the challenges, opportunities, and my action plans to build the business. Also had a 30-60-90 day business plan that was very thorough.
Interviews were with hiring manager and last interview was with Regional Director. Questions were around my background and how I grew up. What I did during college and early jobs out of college. My work ethic was a big one. This job is very demanding and hiring manager wanted to now if I was up to the hard work. Gave examples of multi-tasking and examples of how hard I work to get this done. A lot of the questions were example / situation based..i.e. "what would you or did you do in this situation..."
There were about 8 interviews total over a month and a half time period.
Perception of work: People are of the highest quality and best in class sales reps. This is the top of the line sales job paying more money than most other sales jobs out there. Also very intellectual individuals, as this job has a very long and educationally challenging. Working with the brightest customers out there, specialist and surgical doctors. Very hard working individuals. Most of the "office" environment is over the phone, as this is a field-based job. So, a lot of voice mails, phone calls, and emails.
