J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 3 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Jane App (North Vancouver, BC) en déc. 2020
Entretien
Application process involved a phone screen with a recruiter and then a very small take home project, followed by 3 rounds of interviews.
The take home project was small Ruby application. Very reasonable, taking only around an hour to complete.
The interview process was a discussion about my technical knowledge & previous experience. I got to talk to the team that they wanted me to join and to the senior leadership of the company.
No leetcode. No whiteboarding. No covering things unrelated to the role.

The interview process I went through had 4 steps and it took about 3-4weeks. My experience with the process was seamless and pleasant.
First step was with a recruiter where I briefly talked about my background and experience. The interview is relaxed and more of a conversation in nature.
Second step was a coding assignment that takes about 1-2 hours to complete.
Third step was a technical interview with two developers. It was more of discussion of my technical knowledge and systems design questions. Questions are related to the role and solving real-world problems.
Last step was with the co-CEO. It was a very comfortable and engaging conversation. It involved my career background, and why I wanted to join Jane.

Every stage of the interview process was very engaging and straightforward.
There were four stages. The first was with a recruiter, and this stage was very important because it helped reaffirm why I wanted to work at Jane, and also helped the recruiter know if I'd be a good fit for the company.
The second stage was with one of the current engineers and a group lead, this part was very technical, and also checked how I work with others and solve complex problems. In this stage, you have the chance to ask questions about Jane's engineering processes and stacks.
The third stage was with the VP of Engineering, this was also technical and also checked my culture fit. You have to be as honest as possible with your responses here because most of the questions had to do with how you also view yourself.
The fourth and final stage was with the CEO, this was a 30mins interesting chat, but it involved some digging into why I wanted to work with Jane and some of my career stories.

I applied and the process got delayed as they said "they are prioritizing Canadian candidates first". The overall process took about 3 months and the interview process was not transparent enough as I had to email before getting any feedback on the process. During the process, I got stalled (I will believe they were probably considering other candidates while stalling my interview process). I got great feedback on my code assessment and the technical interview (as the team stated they thought I had a good understanding of what was asked). After the meeting with the VP, I was told they were looking for a top senior level/ tech lead level person, which was not communicated to me during the process till the last stage and also I was not informed I was being set up for a tech lead role during the interview process which would have made the whole process transparent enough for me.
