Strong communication during the entire process. You can tell the team has been trained in updated best practices for talent acquisition and that even if they are in a different location they talk to each other.

Let me start by saying how much I loved JCPenney. I have been shopping there for years, love what they do, and have wanted to work for them since I was still in high school. I was looking for a new position after having to leave my last one due to a death in the family. started looking and saw JCP was looking for an HR position with my years of experience and skillset. I had the unfortunate luck to actually get reached out to by a recruiter. I honestly didn't think I was going to get a second interview because I felt the recruiters tone was kind of condescending and he seemed worried that I wouldn't be able to perform the job. I mean, he's the one that reached out to me and I was able to answer all his questions. Interview ended and I was surprised that the recruiter followed up for set up a second interview with the hiring manager. The interview with the HM was amazing and was so excited for the opportunity to potentially work with her. Had two more interviews after that were set up by the recruiter that went well. I did have to follow up after 2 weeks because I got no response of a follow up timeline. Recruiter calls me a week after i followed up (so 3 weeks after the final interview). He wants to see if I am still interested in the role and that he and the teams want to extend a verbal offer. I was SOOOOOOO excited. After talking he told me he would put in a request to send a physical offer letter my way. Again I was super happy and he said I would hear from him no later than 2 days. I knew not to get too excited until that physical offer was in my hands, but I couldn't help it. A week past by, crickets. I reached out to him and no reply. I reached out to the hiring manager and she said the recruiter should have reached out. The recruiter didn't reach out until days later. He said there was a hold on the position since they were trying to figure out their headcount numbers for 2024. Come on that's a little crazy to put candidates through all those hoops for a position you don't know if you are actually going to hire for. He told me I would "hear from him soon!" Days and weeks past. how crazy ridiculous to do something like that let alone not provide any kind of updates. As someone in HR and recruiting, this is exactly the kind of stuff that I don't let myself or my team do. Candidates deserve respect and updates. A month later I knew I wasn't going to hear back and I provided feedback to the hiring manager of the cruel experience just to find out they dissolved the position altogether. How sweet that no one was able to give any updates. It's crazy, An organization that you have supported and kind of idolized for years treats you in such a way, especially when you are already down. It makes you think how they treat others. This experience was cruel and truly eye-opening and I know that not everyone in the organization is like this, but still. Any kind of respect or service from my end for JCP, is gone.

I had the initial interview with Danny Rojas who told me about the position. The interview with Christine gave me more information about the job. The interview with Amber confirmed everything. I liked each interview and glad they went well!
