      Entretien

I interviewed for JCC MetroWest Camp Deeny Riback. The person that interviewed me was not even in charge of the units that they were interested in placing me in, which made me wonder why that person wasn't interviewing me instead. The entire interview was over the phone and I didn't get that many words in. I was mostly spoken to about camp and those specific programs they wanted me in (I have prior experience in similar programs). I was given an offer before the phone call ended, which I found surprising considering they hadn't even seen my face and I barely got to speak about my experiences. I also wasn't asked questions about certain scenarios considering that these units have a very high level of responsibility. The salary offer was far too low, especially for someone with my abundant amount of experience, and for the very high level of responsibility in those units. And when I say low, I mean far below federal minimum wage. I also looked up the tuition for campers and the tuition for one full-time camper in one of those units is nearly triple the salary they were offering me. I was told that that was the standard flat rate salary for new employees and I would have the opportunity to make more as I continued working there each summer. They wouldn't budge on the salary offer. I had no choice but to turn it down. Disappointing because I feel like this could've been a great summer job, but no one can afford to work for such low wages, especially considering the high price of tuition for camp and the very high cost of living nowadays.
