Hate to have to write this but I hope it leads to some accountability or better practice in the future.
Was contacted directly by phone call on Nov 3rd by an Insight Global recruiter, who found me via LinkedIn, and wanted to pitch me for a rapid hire contract design role with Epic Games. I was excited to be submitted for consideration; recruiter sold me on the role and assured me I was a fantastic candidate with a similar background to a recently placed hire. Recruiter sent me additional information via company email as well, and her LinkedIn confirmed her position.
Heard back on Nov 5 that I was likely a top 2 choice, was told that they would almost certainly want to interview, and was asked to submit more work examples, which I did by end of day. Was thanked by the recruiter and told I could call or text if anything else was needed in the meantime.
I did not hear anything else after that point, despite several (worried) check-ins requesting updates or closure confirmation in the two+ weeks since.
I hope the recruiter is well and healthy - I assume someone else would have reached out by now if the account changed hands. Otherwise, ghosting is just never okay. I’ve worked with dozens of other recruitment/hiring agencies in a similar dynamic, and even when a role doesn’t fit, they have ALWAYS updated regardless of outcome, and end things on a positive note/keep in touch, as is respectful and maintains the connection for future opportunity on both sides.
Not sure if ghosting candidates is a standard Insight Global practice but I’ll be extremely wary of any other recruiters from this org in the future, as they apparently do not respect your time or wellbeing if you’re not chosen by their client - This has been unbelievably bizarre in comparison to other recruitment agency cases, if not outright cruel. Overall, the experience has had a very negative effect on my mental health and outlook in a tumultuous industry and challenging job market. Unfortunately, I can only assume that I’m not the only one left without answers by this recruiter, either. Very poor representation of Epic Games by extension as well. Do better!!
