I was very impressed by the technical side of the company. I had a fantastic interview with the Head of IT, who stands out among a sea of mediocre managers who just don’t get it. For example , the interview focused on problem solving rather than rote memorisation (I am a programmer).
If it was not for the below, I am convinved that it would be a fantastic place to develop for. I had genuinly been looking forward to solving the issues involved.
The issue? the HR department were thoroughly useless.
Despite sending paperwork over twice, there were still missing documents.
The offer letter that was sent did not correctly reflect what had been discussed, including the profit sharing scheme & several other details. After querying the disparities I was told to wait for a call back. After waiting two weeks for a response I grew frustrated had to chase them. I was then criticized for "battling over an issue for weeks" (regarding issues that has been discussed only once, and by this point only queired).
To top off all of these issues, My offer was withdrawn at the last moment due to the above plus some new internal miscommunications that I would find hilarious if they did not involve me.
The most glaring of which being my request to get paid for my first two weeks in the first month, rather than getting paid 6 weeks in the second month. This was somehow interpreted as negotiating for more money (the total sum paid very obviously remains the same).
The staff member responsible has refused to allow me to share my phone recordings proving undeniably his fault in the matter (no suprise there).
This has left me in a precarious position having given notice on my rental, and now having nowhere to move to (another tenant has already signed a contract following me).
Given all of the above, it seems that I have been done a favor by having the offer withdrawn!
