Hello,
We feel sorry the interview experience was not on par with what you expected from us.
We thought the English knowledge requirement is self-implied, since all our job ads are written in English – even the one you applied and interviewed for. Based on your feedback we updated our job announcements so that is clearly stated English language knowledge is mandatory and technical interviews might be carried in English and/or French.
Our hiring process is pretty simple. The first step is a phone call with our recruiters in which they present the company, the position and ask general details about the candidate. After this step, usually we plan the technical interview (onsite or remote depending on availabilities). From our investigation, we found out the first step of our process was properly respected in your case. Even so, we now took steps to ensure a mandatory recap of company and position presentation in order to avoid situations like yours in the future.
We always try to provide a customized technical interview for each candidate and to learn from past mistakes. Although is hard, we don’t have same tests for all our candidates. We are not doubting the skills of our candidates, instead we strive to learn more about them.
For instance, in your specific case we were interested in finding out at least these 3 points:
- what is your thinking/ideation process
- if you know to explain the basic principles of ergonomics and accessibility in web design
- how do you destructure a client brief into functional/technical specifications
As always, the portfolio of a candidate tells a part of his story. We expect to learn the other part from the candidate itself.
We appreciate the time you took to provide us your feedback. Thank you!
