      HR Screen was a bit pointless. Mostly asking questions about what your previous managers would rate you. They asked for a portfolio for an engineering position which was strange. No real technical evaluations, seems as though everything is based on what your previous managers would say about you.

      Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm sorry it didn't work out and wish you the best in your job search. For anyone reading this review and curious about our interview process, we explain at the beginning of the screening (and often included in the job posting as well) that the phone screening is the first step in a multi stage interview process. It is a chance to speak with and get to learn a bit more about the candidate and understand their work history before we later get into more technical assessments. The technical assessments are often more time consuming for the candidate and we don't like to ask candidates to do these until they are further along in the process. When we interview we are looking for technical strength as well as fit with our clients and team at each stage in our interview process and we use different proven approaches to assess it at each stage. We modify the process a bit for different roles (sometimes adding a technical assessment up front) but we generally follow a similar format across all of our roles as we find it works well and helps us deliver a fair and consistent candidate experience. We are a small company and like to spend as much time as we reasonably can getting to know candidates and having candidates get to know us before hiring. We find we can actually learn quite a bit from a technical perspective in what appears to be a general work history based interview and thank all candidates for their patience as we work through our interview process.

      Interviewer was very rude - seemed like they already had someone in mind for the role. Barely listened to my responses for his questions, and seemed extremely uninterested when I was talking about my experiences and achievements.

      Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your interview experience. We truly value and enjoy the search for great new team members and we want candidates to have a positive experience with us. Please accept my apologies for any rudeness you experienced. From what you describe it sounds like you may have been in one of our co-op student interviews. In those recent remote interviews one of the interviewers was using two screens – one screen with notes and resumes and the other with his camera. If this was the case in your interview, it’s possible that he was not balancing looking at the other screen for notes with engaging with you on camera. I'm not trying to excuse any rudeness, that is unacceptable, I'm just trying to understand what may have been happening so we can address it. Remote interview etiquette and potential pitfalls is something we will be particularly conscious of and do better at proactively managing in the future. I would also like to assure you that we were not interviewing with someone already in mind for the role - we are always open to exploring what each candidate brings (or we wouldn’t have requested an interview) and do not want to waste our time or yours.       Entretien

      I only went as far as the phone screen with Inertia Engineering. I was asked HR style questions that weren't tailored to the job or my experience. Instead, they were entirely generic questions like "what are 7 of your strengths" or "please give us 4 weaknesses". If you want to work here, I would suggest studying up on generic HR questions for the phone screen.
