Found ad on Craigslist and emailed cover letter and resume. Received response the next day to complete an online questionnaire detailing my experience and the form requires a number to be entered for "Salary Range." After completing the online questionnaire I received an email to schedule a "Phone Screen," which was setup for 3 days later.
I was excited when I applied for this position and invested time and energy in preparing for the phone interview, including reviewing the information here on www.glassdoor.com. I had hoped my experience would be like the few positive reviews, but I was disappointed to discover that the more negative reviews are the most accurate. They are actually looking for Linux experts to work for $12-14 per hour plus a bonus structure based primarily on resolving issues in less than 9.5 minutes (i.e., the more calls you resolve per hour the bigger the bonus, which maxes out at $600).
I received feedback from the phone screen in less than an hour offering me enrollment in the "Technical Pipeline Program," their unpaid, 8 week training course that does NOT guarantee employment after successful completion. That left me with one clear answer: The "Technical Pipeline Program" does not sufficiently prepare candidates for employment in the industry. On the off-chance that it does, then there's no need to settle for $14 per hour. At least, not in the tech mecca of Denver, CO.
