      Entretien pour Program Manager

      9 mai 2014
      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme
      Bengaluru
      Aucune offre
      Expérience neutre
      Entretien moyen

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris plus d'une semaine. J'ai passé un entretien chez InMobi (Bengaluru) en avr. 2014

      Entretien

I applied for the interview through LinkedIn. I got a call from the HR to visit campus for in person interview for the next day. I requested for some time, but the interviewer was supposed to be very busy for next few days and would not be able to take interview if i refused to come at desired time. My interview was scheduled for 10 AM but the interviewer came only by 10.30. He said he got stuck on some call could not come on time. (I found this highly unprofessional). later he asked few generic question: -Give a brief introduction? - Why do you want to join us? - Why do you want to leave your current company? etc. During the interview he told many times that they are a start up and believe in working long hours and weekends and this is a routine in InMobi which they are proud of. I answered that by doing so, you are going to burn your employees very soon. to which he answered they don't worry too much about future and he is more worried about what happens now. (again an alarm for me) around 11 AM he said he has to rush for some other meeting and will not be able to give me due time. (again unprofessional) Later HR came to me and asked me to wait as she was still co-coordinating with the next interviewer and told me it will happen only by 12 PM (I had to wait for 1 hour). I waited and next interview started around 12.15. Clearly the person who took my interview was not aware of this and was clueless on what questions to ask and started with general questions once again. one more time the stress was on how proud they are about their long working hours and work during weekend.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Concentration was not on typical questions, but whether the new person is willing to work longer hours.

Questions were more around how the PMO functions and why do an organization like Inmobi (which is still not out of start-up mode) needs a PMO. Fundamentally, what they are looking for is more of a PMO guy and not a "Program Manager" as the designation states. One constant thing which comes out very open in the discussions is that "We still are a start-up and we believe in working long hours and weekend and NO HOLIDAY/BREAK mode" which is kind of discouraging when one is looking out for an opportunity or for that matter a company filling position. Focus of the interview will be more on what you can bring to the table than what you have done in past. All evaluation will be on fitment of you in the organization. Must mentioned that they are not an experienced company and you will get to see it ample during interview process; such as: 1. They openly mentioned that if all the rounds are clear then the last round will be HR where salary negotiations shall take place; on the contrary, it ended up being one more discussion of what seems to have been covered in 4-5 rounds for me 2. When you set expectations with candidate that last round is HR which is confirmation of earlier rounds to be passed, you invariably lead the candidate to believe what's coming next

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

      1. The overall process was very hectic and all the interviewers asking similar questions as appear to have same question set prepared in advance; such as: a) Why do you want to join Inmobi b) What are you bringing to the table c) Will you be comfortable with the setup of start-up we have which apparently doesn't believe in breaks d) Why Inmobi needs a PMO e) Why are you leaving your existing company 2. The HR informed me specifically that interview response / feedback isn't shared by the interviewer among themselves, which I took it highly and kind of understood the reasoning behind repeat questions; but when it came to my final round - I was surprised to realize and that feedback was not only shared but discussed in advance when I was waiting in the room :) 3. Finally, a direct criticism on the education degrees and % to prove that expectation is for you to have esteemed institution degrees (IIT, IIM) With all that, I must say that Inmobi needs a bit of maturity when recruiting senior folks as compared to development / engineering folks. With tight existing schedule when one makes time for interview, last minute schedule changes are not a good experience. Also, at senior level, no one cares if lunches are free in company and if someone did, it's highly doubtful on perspective.
