J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez In Mocean (Los Angeles, CA) en mars 2023
Entretien
It was a two-process interview, first on a 15 min phone call which the recruiter was late too. Then they follow up with a zoom interview with a guy named Justin who seems like he didn’t want to be there. Wasn’t smiling at all and wasn't engaged in the conversation.
J'ai postulé via une agence de recrutement. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez In Mocean (New York, NY) en nov. 2021
Entretien
I applied through a recruitment agency and was invited for an interview with an upper management member in production, another production member was in the interview as well whom did not introduce herself and I was not told she was joining beforehand.
First - InmOcean seems to be the typical old school wholesale and production company. Meaning upper management has been working there forever and has yet to catch onto DEI and new trends of what new professionals in the industry expect from employers. This however makes companies like this unattractive compared to all of the new successful companies in fashion/production.
The manager running the interview was late, he did not introduce himself and this was a Zoom interview yet he couldn't even adjust his camera so I could see him. I was staring at his forehead the entire time. He was very condescending and pointed out my voice upon 10 seconds of meeting me and it set the tone of discrimination. Then he went on to review my resume by himself as I sat there smiling and he picked apart my employment gaps (caused mostly due to me being a new grad during a um... Pandemic??). Asked only about what he was interested in on my past employment duties instead of learning my career journey and unique skills. Never mind the fact that I am coming from a retail brand that has faced unprecedented growth in 2020.. he never even asked about it. He poked at the fact that this was be my “first real full time job” which is untrue, I have worked full time since I was in college and in a full time role currently that has demanding hours.
He seemed to belittle my skills and teased the fact that I listed a certain skill as proficient when I then cited I used it in a temp assignment last year. The overall experience was horrible. The woman in the interview sort of sensed the awkwardness and she did little to nothing to make me feel better about the experience.
I immediately contacted the recruiter for the position and withdrew my application.
Work here if you need a job, otherwise look for a company with good people that understand communication and professionalism. People that have empathy and understand the importance of networking and connections with others. No salary or job title is worth spending time with people that aren’t nice people!
