      Entretien

Initially I had a screening call with an HR recruiter, who was personable and casual, and asked just a few general questions. She referenced my resume and said the team that I was applying for already viewed it and thought I was well qualified and would be a great fit for a specific position. She ended the call saying she was moving me on to the next round, that they were excited to talk to me, and that I should expect to hear from the team the following week. I didn't hear anything for 2-3 weeks and reached back out to her, and then within a few days the team emailed me apologizing, and scheduled a second and third round interview, which occurred on the same day. Both interviews went well; each had a discussion-like feel where I was encouraged to ask questions, and we talked about shared topics of interest. They also talked about potential projects for the summer, and brought up items from my resume that they said would transfer very well to their work. It seemed as though they had taken the time to read my resume and cover letters, which I appreciated. They said I should hear from them either way in a week or so after the interviews, and reiterated this when they responded to my thank you emails. I didn't hear anything at all for about 3 weeks and so I emailed the manager I talked to in the second round. Instead, the initial HR recruiter emailed me back saying they'd selected a different candidate. While the actual interviews/conversation experience went well, there were long lapses in communication in-between. I would've greatly appreciated hearing back from them sooner after the last round, or at least have been told that they needed more time. I also would've appreciated hearing back from one of the managers I'd talked to, and the fact that a different person responded to my email asking for an update felt awkward and impersonal. More specific feedback would've been appreciated as well, since during the conversations they emphasized how well they thought my skills, educational and professional backgrounds would fit with the intern projects and tasks.
