      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 2 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez Human API en oct. 2023

      Entretien

I was contacted out of the blue by the recruiter for LexisNexis, which recently bought out Human API. It was a very good initial interview; she was thorough and asked good questions and provided a lot of info. Not even a few hours later, I received an email from the hiring manager, who wanted to set up an interview for either later that day or for the next day. I chose the next day so that I could have time to research the role and company more. Again, I hadn't applied to them; apparently the hiring manager found my resume somewhere, maybe LinkedIn. The next day we had the interview, and it was off-putting to me. I was asked questions about things I did NOT have on my resume as experience; my resume was pretty clear on what I have worked with, yet I was being asked about experiences in things not listed. I did answer honestly that I did not deal with certain things he was asking because there were other teams that handled them (i.e. DevOps, etc), or they were beyond the scope of my previous roles. The fact that I had done some pretty ambitious things in my past roles like build a framework from SCRATCH at my last employer, and and other great talking points and experience. Then I was told that I "was not what they were needing". To which I then asked, "WHAT was it about my resume that prompted you to want to interview me?". It almost felt discriminatory, as in my research of the employees, I didn't quite look like everyone else I saw in their company photos. It was really disappointing and a waste of both of our time.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

The standard "tell me what you did in your previous role". Then there was a code "challenge" to navigate to a file, and then extract a word that was repeated in that file. I'd never come across a problem like this before.
