Was emailed by representative for a "virtual interview". Took place on the computer through a program where you were given questions and a time limit to answer each question while being recorded on video. Questions were very fair but the time limits made the interview stressful. 9 questions asked total.
I applied online and didnt hear anything until 6 weeks after. I was then sent a virtual Skype interview which really took me aback. It wasn't with a human and it was 9 questions that you didn't see before hand, had to record yourself as you saw the question and only had 1 chance and 2 mins for each one. Very ineffective way to "get to know" someone especially because it wasn't with a human and incredibly rushed.
I was then told the video would be reviewed and would have an update the following week. After a month of hearing nothing, And inquiring and hearing nothing, I just assumed I didn't get it. But really disappointing that they didn't have the courtesy to at least tell me no, or have an actual human interview me. Very disheartening since I love the writing.

First I had a phone interview with an HR person, which asked very basic, average questions on my background. I was also asked about where I get my news and how I feel about social media. It lasted about 30 minutes. About a week later, I was contacted to have a video interview with the Deputy Managing Editor and a past fellowship participant that was now an employee. This interview was also about 30 minutes and they asked me very specific questions about how to represent news in a digital way. I was not quite prepared for this. The process took about 4 weeks and I was then told I did not make it to the next round.
