      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. J'ai passé un entretien chez Hubbell (Elgin, IL) en déc. 2017

      Entretien

I'd passed an initial technical screening from the recruiting agency consisting of two coding exercises, so the primary interview was an on-site with the manager, who asked me questions about my background and some various non-technical questions. Towards the end he had me create an object model with properties and methods for a light switch system, and write a sample class containing these. Later that evening I was notified that they had extended an offer, so I let the recruiter know I'd be getting back with an answer by close of business the next day - WELL WITHIN the 24-hour window. The reason I hadn't immediately accepted was that I was waiting to hear back on a potential offer with another company, and I'd had another on-site scheduled for the following morning. By the end of the following day I had not heard back regarding the potential offer, so I contacted the recruiter and let him know I accepted Hubbell's offer. This is where things turn into a giant SNAFU. I'd received an email over the weekend letting me know the hiring manager had been notified of my acceptance and was excited to have me on board. I filled out a form letter via email stating my acceptance of the offer and assumed I was good to go. Monday evening comes and I hear from the recruiter stating that HR had rescinded the offer and was unwilling to draw up a new one, their reason being that I had not responded within their acceptable time period. Problem is, that was never actually conveyed to the recruiter. Had I been told that I needed to respond by an earlier time I certainly would have done so, as I believe in the proverb "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush". All in all, this was very unprofessional, and I advise potential candidates to be wary of interviewing here, since you may not have as much time as you think to decide on an offer if they extend you one.
