Applied online and got a call later that day to schedule an interview the following week. Interview was with CSO and Office Manager and went for 60 mins over MS Teams, Friendly vibes, engaging questions. Shortly after I was asked to provide writing examples, and this advanced me to the next round of interviews. 2nd interview occurred 3 weeks later, again over MS Teams, with the US-based CEO, CSO and Netherlands-based Marketing Manager. It went for 60 minutes, very business-like in tone, some challenging questions. A few days later I was advised I would advance to the next round, and a week after that I received instructions for a communications writing task (write a LinkedIn post with a suitable graphic, with rationale), and had 9 calendar days to submit. I submitted after 2 days, but needed to follow-up with the Office Manager to confirm it was received. From this point on, contact from HOST was minimal to non-existent… The writing task instructions had mentioned there would be an interview after to discuss the rationale - this never happened. I was emailed by an external partner of HOST to completed an online personality profile - this had not been pre-emptied by HOST. Only when a follow-up from the third party partner arrived in my email inbox 3 days later, with the HOST Office Manager copied in, did I submit the profile survey. Received confirmation of receipt from that partner, and never heard about it again from anyone. A week after the writing task deadline, Is till hadn’t heard from anyone at HOST - followed up by email, and got a very quick reply from the CSO saying there’d be a likely update the next day - this didn’t happen. Didn’t hear back at all so after 2 more weeks I emailed again. No reply from the CSO or Office Manager. Waited another week and emailed again (no response), so called the Office Manager by phone, who said they’d urgently contact the CSO and CEO for an update. Didn’t hear from anyone for several days, so called the CSO directly by phone and left a voicemail. No response from him either. Seriously, they should change their company name to ‘GHOST’. Finally, called the Office Manager back 2 days later to say how disappointed I was in their hot/cold treatment, and formally withdrew from the process. By this time I’d already processed the emotional disappointment and found the whole situation to be a farce. The Office Manager was kind and apologetic, and passed my message on to the CSO. He sent an email the following day apologizing for delays, listed a bunch of excuses, and said they’d gone in another direction. Good luck to them. I provided constructive feedback to improve their processes, so hopefully anyone reading this has a better experience.
