Inconsistent and incompetent recruiters and hiring managers I recently applied for a Senior Software Engineer position at HighSpot, and the experience was both disappointing and frustrating. It began with an inexplicable two-month delay in receiving initial contact from the recruiter, even after several follow-ups on my end. Meanwhile, others who applied later received immediate attention, creating an environment of confusion and frustration. The screening call felt like a rehearsed sales pitch rather than an authentic conversation, and this was at odds with the contrasting reviews from current and former employees. The technical interview was a mixed experience. On one hand, I was able to successfully solve all the technical challenges presented to me. On the other hand, the interviewer was late, appeared disinterested, yawned throughout, and left abruptly without addressing my questions about the role or team. This blatant disregard and disrespect for my time and effort was deeply concerning. The final straw was the delay in receiving feedback and the absence of any explanation when I was informed that I was not moving forward, despite my technical success in the interview. It took them two weeks to get back. In this field, clear communication, respect for time, and transparent processes is not much to expect. Especially from a supposedly good company. Unfortunately, my experience with HighSpot's recruitment was lacking in all these areas. I strongly recommend potential candidates to do thorough research and consider other options before pursuing opportunities at HighSpot. My experience, even with the successful completion of all technical challenges, was far from the professional and respectful process one should expect from a potential employer. Proceed with caution if considering this company.
