Agreed that we do not follow a traditional interview process. Currently, our recruiting process consists of three rounds of interviews (first with HR, then with your expected line manager, then with our directors) as well as online testing for skills, personality type, and working style.
Our final round interview is always more a conversation than an interview. The purpose is to determine if the candidate is a good fit with our company culture rather than to assess their skills.
Also contrary to most organizations, we hire candidates before conducting the bulk of our technical skills evaluations. Due to the complex and specialized nature of our work, even the most seasoned candidates require extensive training. Our rationale is: we can train a candidate into a role that fits them, but we can’t train anyone to become a good fit for our company culture if they aren’t already (nor would we want to). Helix International is not for everyone, but evidently it is for you—happy to have you on the team!
