VERY extensive and in-depth interview process; I would not recommend applying unless you are serious about getting the position as you will invest quite a bit of time and effort in the hiring process. That being said, I really enjoyed the process and felt that all of the steps are necessary in today's competitive job environment to ensure that the Hawkes gets the best person for the job! I found out about an open Marketing position through my school's career center and applied online. Within a week or so I was contacted by e-mail to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was basically a standard phone interview, general background/experience questions. They asked for my SAT scores which was odd considering I was a soon to be college graduate. After the phone interview I was asked to come into the office for an Excel aptitude test (which I took using a computer simulation software) and afterwards I chatted briefly with a member of the marketing team. Within a few days of that I was asked to come back in and meet with a higher-level manager, this one-on-one interview was pretty in-depth and lasted at least an hour. Lots of "give me and example of a time when.." questions and basically all of the standard interview questions one would expect. After that I was asked to come into the office for a third time for some "skills and personality assessments", which involved 1) a research task/data entry assignment using Excel, 2) a speed typing/words per minute type test, 3) an editing/proofreading test, and 4) a sales skills test, and 5) a personality test. All of the tests were timed except for the personality test and in total this visit took about 2.5 hours. Within a few days of that, I was contacted to set up the "final round of the hiring process" which involved me going to a third party "consultant" (who turned out to be a psychiatrist) and taking another series of tests including a mental evaluation, math drills, another personality test, an IQ test, ect. I was asked everything from history questions (ex. Who was the president of the US during _________ war) to vocabulary questions (define ______ in your own words - think SAT type vocab) to math word problems and pattern recognition tests. This part of the process was pretty intense but evidently I did well and the doctor was very pleasant. This was a pretty lengthy visit, I was at his office for close to 3 hours. I was contacted within 24 hours of this final evaluation and offered the position. There was no negotiation of salary, but the salary I was offered was in line with what I had indicated early in the process as my expectations. Overall, the process in its entirely took about 3-4 weeks and a total of three visits to the Hawkes office and another visit to the consultant/psychiatrist. It was somewhat stressful to be tested so much, but everyone that I talked with and met was very pleasant and made me feel comfortable and welcome. The actual interviews were pretty standard and not difficult, but the testing is definitely challenging and somewhat intimidating. Unintelligent/lazy people need not waste their time. By the time I received an offer I was thrilled to accept!
