I interviewed for a team leader position, and I had three interviews for it all together. A brief one on the phone initially, followed by two face to face meetings with someone more senior joining for the second meeting.
I was offered a position, but was basically told that they couldn't make a decision between the final few candidates so offered us all a position in a sales role on a reduced salary to battle it out for a potential management position that they may have made available in the future.
Really poor form to advertise the role as something more than is available to then try to employ people on a lower contract in a lower position with the potential of a management position in the future.
