      5 août 2019
      Employé (anonyme)
      Ferndale, MI
      Offre acceptée
      Expérience positive
      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez HT Marketing (Ferndale, MI) en avr. 2016

      Entretien

It didn’t really even feel like an interview. It was like I was just talking to a friend about the things I’ve done and what kind of sports I like. It was about an hour long and we left the office for coffee.

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 2 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez HT Marketing (Ferndale, MI) en sept. 2019

      Entretien

Each round of the interview process was held in Ferndale, MI. The first interview was a one-on-one screening to (1) confirm I was seeking full-time employment, (2) confirm that I have reliable transportation, (3) inform me that the company is interested in rapid expansion and is seeking to hire entry-level associates who can quickly rise into management positions, (4) confirm if I am interested in an entry-level position that would offer quick opportunities for advancement, and (5) confirm if I enjoy sports. The screening interview lasted fifteen minutes and I was informed that I would receive a phone call that evening between 5-6pm if I selected to continue to the next round of interviews. The second round interview featured nine job candidates waiting in the lobby, who were divided into three interview groups, each assigned to a manager to perform a group interview. The manager escorted our group of three candidates into his office. He asked several questions to get to know us and introduced himself. He repeatedly mentioned the goal of the organization is to hire talented entry-level candidates who can be quickly groomed into managerial roles. When he showed us the position responsibilities, the responsibilities did not match the position posting at all. The position posting was for a Customer Service Representative position, but they were really only hiring door-to-door sales positions. In addition, the compensation that was presented was 100% commission, and at the highest sales projections, would still come in beneath the bottom end of the advertised salary range. Finally, despite advertising positions in Livonia, MI (which is much closer to where I live), he revealed that the only office we could commute to is in Ferndale. Essentially, a lot was promised in the job posting... but very little was delivered during the interview. I confronted the manager about this in front of the other candidates and said that I felt like it was misleading to bait and switch location, responsibilities, and compensation. At the end, I was told that I would receive a call that night if I was selected for the next round of interviews. I did not receive a phone call. The management team has clearly mastered the process of conducting ongoing mass interviews, and my assumption is that the real business model behind this company is to continually replenish the rapid turnover rate in their sales force with promises of entry level management positions and a fun sports-focused work culture. Ultimately, this was very disappointing because I had applied to a Customer Service job and that's what I was looking for.
