Lengthy. Took several months from application to hiring. Each step seemed incredibly drawn out. It is a higher level position, so I hung in there.
First there was a phone interview and then a superday-style in person interview. It was round-robin panel interviews. They provided lunch and finished with a windshield tour of the entire shipyard. Was there about 9 hours in total. The panels are teams of coaches. So they are not just evaluating your fit in the position, but also which team you would fit with.
The recruiter, hiring manager, and interview team were all fantastic. The shipyard is enormous (25k+ employees). So the hiring process is subject to the ebbs and flows of an organization that size.
The final step of the process is a detailed background investigation, physical, and a drug screen by hair follicle. Keep that in mind if you like to party.
