Interviewed in February 2026, "early middle" level Android Engineer. There were two stages:
1 hour competency based + technical questions interview - online,
1 hour pair programming interview - in person. I haven't passed the first stage.
The first interview turned out to be a combination of everything: motivation (why do you want to work in Guardian), competency based questions, they also tested your knowledge of architectures, asked about how things like deployment, crash analytics worked in your previous company, and one system design task. I was not prepared for system design as it was not communicated that it would be at that stage in advance. The task itself was not difficult though. At the interview I had a feeling that we spoke different languages, there were multiple occasions of miscommunication, maybe partly due to my inexperience of having interviews but also due to inability of the interviewers to explain what they wanted. Because of that in the middle of the interview it was kinda obvious that we did not click. It is what it is.
