It took 2 months to hear back after applying. Was contacted by a 3rd party recruiter who called me and basically asked me to regurgitate my resume because she never read it. Then I was told I would be receiving a code challenge and then be scheduled for a phone interview with the CTO. I never got the code challenge and also on the day of the phone interview they emailed me to reschedule. Not a big deal but sort of last minute and I had scheduled to work at home that day for it.
As for the phone interview, it was a huge waste of time. I got the vibe the CTO was not even interested by his tone of voice. After 5 minutes of bragging about how fast their start up was growing he only asked me 2 questions.
The first question was okay, which was "describe a challenging project you've worked on" but all I got back for a response was "ok cool". Usually I would think that the interviewer would like get me to expand on my answer more or follow up with more questions about my experience. Instead I was then asked what 3 values I'd instill in a startup if I owned one. First off, I'm not interviewing for CEO of a company, and second, these kinds of questions should be saved for an in person interview after a technical interview has been given.
The CTO then left asked me if I had any questions, which I did not really because I did enough research on the company and was expecting to be "interviewed". I did ask a few questions just to keep the conversation going and did learn that they pair program 6 hours a day everyday so just keep that in mind if you decide to apply. After running out of questions to ask he told me he would go over it with his team and contact me in a few days, which ended up being an automated rejection email.
