They reached out over email when I applied on the website. We scheduled a face to face interview (they had already seen my resume and experience) and I went into the office. Sat with project manager, CEO to discuss capabilities, general questions, experience and salary requirements and then with a couple members of the dev team too. Felt more like a culture type thing once we got past the basics on development experience, etc... It was clear they want all members of the team to be comfortable with each other. Thought it was cool they involved developers in the process when appropriate. Salary or other sensitive things weren't a part of all that.
