      J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez GoCardless (Londres, Angleterre)

      As other people mentioned earlier, HR need huge restructuring. Internal recruiter emailed me first time and I was open for interviewing, fixed appointment and no call received. Fixed another appointment on the system they use and again... no call. Another recruiter contacted me months later for a different position, I explained the situation and he wanted to talk. This second person was more reliable. Unfortunately after the first call I've been "passed over" to the recruiter didn't call me 2 months earlier. Have received another email to book an appointment for the first interview with one of their engineers, have also received confirmation of date and time. The interviewer didn't call me !! Emailed the recruiter who called me straight away apologising that the interview was in VC and not phone call and she had forgotten to send the link...... At the end she sent the email with the link and the interview started 20 min late. We've finished at the scheduled time though. Interview was average, lots of technical questions but interviewer doesn't even try to understand where you come from and your background experience. He has a list of prepared questions and just tick boxes. Questions are the ones you can find in one of the books on amazon on how to pass an interview: SQL JOIN, Web Security, difference between HTTP/HTTPS/HTTP2 and so forth. A week after the interview I had to email to ask for a feedback, the answer was a classical preformed email saying they are looking for someone more experienced. No feedback at all. I'm surprised this company is scored so high, maybe internally the situation is better. As someone else mentioned in other comments, Internal recruiters need huge restructuring and someone able to sell the company.

      Entretien

      Several Phone Interviews assessing technical and managerial capability followed by a 5 hour onsite interview process assessing the same, the process was long and initially set the expectation it could be over in a couple of weeks, which turned into a couple of months. It felt like they continually re-assesed the same thing. Very much interviewing toward the technical side and although stated otherwise felt like they were looking for people not far out of being senior software engineers in a fairly regimented fashion. Unfortunately the process didn't lend itself to understand the role and company before the 5 hour onsite interview so could have been flushed out sooner with a less formal and more exploratory process over the phone before that. The arranging process didn't endear me to the company and felt like they were processing numbers rather than trying to sell me the idea of working at the company, at no point did i feel like anyone was fuelling my enthusiasm to work there but had the expectation that I should be enthusiastic about working there. On the positive side they had a very useful page shared describing the process, and the expectations around it.

Unfortunately, it sounds like your interviewing process was caught in the crossfire of improvements being trialled and implemented. Our apologies for this. We have since finalised and implemented an improved process that tests all aspects of an Engineering Manager's role here at GoCardless (covering leadership, architecture and coding). We’re also sorry to hear that enthusiasm for working at GoCardless didn’t come across from the members of the team whom you interviewed with. All of our interviewers are very passionate about working here at GoCardless; this is the first time we’ve had this feedback and is certainly something we’ll be looking into more closely for future interviews.
