J'ai passé un entretien chez GoBolt

      Entretien

It started with a phone pre-screening and virtual interview with the technical team as next steps. My recent interview experience with GoBolt raised several concerns about the company culture and leadership alignment. The discussion involved both the Product Manager and the Director of Engineering. Initially, the Product Manager appeared uncomfortable after a few of my responses. As the conversation progressed, it became clear that my level of experience and ability to ask high-level product questions may have made them uneasy. This resulted in vague follow-up questions and a lack of clarity about the role’s scope, suggesting a lack of confidence or discomfort with hiring candidates who bring senior-level expertise. More concerning was the interaction with the Engineering Director. He asked hypotheticals that revealed troubling dynamics between leadership and delivery teams. One specific example was: “What would you do if the CEO asked you to prioritize a feature to close a new client, but engineering had no available resources?” This question, framed with visible frustration, hinted at a pattern of executive overreach and pressure without proper support or resource planning. Rather than focusing on collaborative planning or roadmap alignment, the conversation centered on how to absorb last-minute demands from the CEO—indicative of a reactive and possibly toxic environment. Overall, the interview left me with the impression of a disjointed culture, where leadership expectations are not in sync and pressure is passed down without adequate support or structure. Candidates who value healthy cross-functional relationships, clear prioritization frameworks, and empowered product roles may want to dig deeper into GoBolt’s internal dynamics before proceeding further.
