After applying through directly contacting the recruiter, I was immediately scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager and skipped the HR interview. Fairly easy interview, just asked me about the experiences I listed on my resume and a handful of behavioral and culture-fit questions. Got the offer the week after the interview.
