I was invited directly to a virtual interview with the hiring manager after applying for the role. There did not appear to be an initial HR or recruiter phone screen before the hiring manager conversation. The interview was cut short because it became clear there was a fundamental mismatch between the job requirements and my experience, specifically around the level of hands-on paid search experience expected. This was frustrating because the mismatch likely could have been identified earlier through a basic screening conversation, especially since the role title had also shifted from Digital Marketing Manager to Senior Digital Media Buyer/Planner which was a bit confusing during the application process.
