      Entretien

Overall, it was not a great experience. Dont know which part was wrong, since it was my first onsite after finishing my school, but hardly enjoy the process. 1. Timing. I arrived the admin building at about 1:15pm, 45 minutes prior the appointment. Received the security badge. Be told that the hiring team were noticed that I’m arrived. The interview started 15 minutes after passed the appointment time, and the front desk has no knowledge what was going on. In the way walking to the roomI was explained that the late was due to the room availability. My understand was at least my hiring team or the other hiring team that was using this room in prior don’t have a sense of time. 2. Manner. One senior manager wasn’t available to attend so a principal engineer under him was sent to this interview with some questions he prepared. Very standard questions. The second person was another principal engineer from the team that I was supposed to work with in a long run. He is knowledgeable and good at communication. The third person was the hiring manager. I can clearly remember his first question was” which person you like more after talking around”. I refused to give my answer and said “ I enjoyed to talk to both of them but hard to say which one I like to talk more after a short conversation which was focused on technical issues “ he was not satisfied at my answer and kept pushing me on this question. I was not comfortable but insisted on refusing to answer that question. Both of us was not happy. Then he started throwing questions related to the work but not on my resume. I gave my understanding of the theoretical fundamentals and frankly about my strength was not in that area but my resume shown that I’m a fast learner. He asked if I have any question. I asked about the training. What is the best of his experience to learn things that you don’t know. I asked the mechanism of multi-team collaboration at GF. The last person was from the HR. He took about 5 minutes to get in after the Hiring Manager gone. I looked at my watch and that was 4pm and my interview was supposed to be ended by then. After the handshake, he sited on one chair and put both his legs on the other chair besides him. I was speechless for a little while for that gesture. He said he had a long day and then flipped open his laptop and started to talk about the company and how good is the salary. He talked about the housing market in around after numbers. He didn’t bother to ask any question related to this job. He asked if I have any questions, I said no. We quickly finished this round and he walked me out to the lobby. 3. Feedback I was told by the HR person that I will have the result in a week. A week later I was heard the offer was given to another candidate from my friends. The hiring manager finally replied my email at the end of week 2 and told me that result. I politely thanked him again for his time and ask if he would give me any suggestion to improve my interview. He didn’t. I expect that. 4. Reimbursement The policy said no reimbursement will be processed if there was a excessive tips. I went to a restaurant and spent $23 for the meal and wrote a $5 tips. They only reimbursed the $23, after 2 month of process, and said the tips cannot not be reimbursed. I didn’t ask for explanation because 1. It’s only $5 and 2, I don’t care.

GLOBALFOUNDRIES was tough but courteous during the interview. They were upfront about the challenges at work, the long hours and the possibility of being called in on weekends. They also emphasized that the more closely you worked with other engineers and technicians, the better one's workload could be handled.
