Disrespectful candidate experience and lack of follow-through
Pros:
• Interesting mission in the energy space
• Opportunity to work on impactful problems (in theory)
Cons:
• Recruiting process feels impersonal from the start, initial outreach was a mass message sent to dozens of candidates
• Interview experience lacked professionalism: scheduled for an hour, rescheduled same day, then cut short to ~20 minutes
• Interviewer was late and seemed rushed
• Clear commitments were not honored, was told to expect a follow-up by a specific date that never came
• Multiple follow-ups (including thank you note and additional check-ins) were completely ignored
• Overall candidate experience reflects poorly on company culture and respect for people’s time
Advice to Management:
If you’re going to engage candidates, especially experienced professionals, treat the process with more care and accountability. Personalized outreach, showing up prepared and on time, and simply closing the loop go a long way. Ghosting after setting expectations is not acceptable and damages your employer brand.
