      Entretien pour Customer Service Representative

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 1 jour. J'ai passé un entretien chez GEICO (Fredericksburg, VA) en juin 2011

      Entretien

I applied online on May 31,2011. After that I recieved an email stating that they recieved my application and I will be contacted by phone or email by a member of their hiring team. On June 1st, I recieved an email stating that they reviewed my application and would like to conduct a phone interview with me. A link is in the email a between 830 thru 430 are times available. I picked 430 on June 3rd. The call only lasted maybe 10-11 minutes. Basically the lady summarized what I had stated on my application and let me know that they had a claims position starting at the end of the month. I said that I wouldn't mind being considered for that position since I applied for the service rep. She stated that if hired there is a 3 day orientation from 830-430 and then you would do 6 weeks of classroom training from 730-330 and then 5 weeks of on the job training working any where from 1-4pm starting and ending the day between 9-12am. All of which would be paid training. She also stated that the position started at 29,432. Basically 14.15 an hour. Working later then 9pm would give you a 10% increase in pay. You would work weekends, working 6 days a week and then 4 days the next week. Never a Saturday and a Sunday together. When the phone interview was finished I was asked to come to the Fredericksburg location to take some assessment tests at 8am on June 7th. It was just me and another female at 8am taking the tests. First computer assessment is the Personality Test. Its a 118 question survey asking a varity of things that you answer on a scare of 1 to 5 on how you agree or disagree. They give you either 20-30mins to finish this. Pretty easy. The next part is what they call the Multitasking test. It stressed me out. Basically its a mock system to simulate what a call center computer system would be like. It gives you 5 minutes to look over the screens and tabs before it puts you to the test. Mine was a mock insurance company that had a service, claims and sales tab. Theirs two parts to this, you have a headset to hear audio of fake callers calling in and a email tab of fake emails from customers. So on the left side you may see a phone query come thru and you click and the info the caller says you then have to plug in the correct tab. Not ever caller tells you things in order of how the tabs are label. Keep in mind that the sales, service and claims tab all each have 3 seperate tabs within themselves. just as you for the fake phone calls you have to enter the info from the fake emails when they become available. The instructions stress get as much info for each claim and not to rush because there is no way to get all of them done. and it only gives you less then a minute for each task. This task is done twice. After that part is the typing test. Basically you are giving a statement and so much time to type as much as you can and basicaly do well more then trying to type a lot. The multi-task test lasted about an hour. After that we watched a 20 minute video about the available jobs and whats to be expected. After this I was asked to wait in the waiting area of the HR office. I waited an hour before a Hiring Manager was available. The young lady that took the test when I did was only back with the manager for 15 minutes and left. After a few moments that same lady called me back. She asked basically interview questions and wrote them down on the form with the questions. This lasted maybe 15mins. I was asked to wait in the waiting area once again. Maybe for 5 minutes and she called me back in again. This time she had a package that was maybe 8-10 pages and 3-5 questions each. These were more descriptive. Some questions were how have you handle a negative situation with a customer. What did I like about the video? How often do I recieve positive feedback at work? How well do i accept feedback? What do I expect if working at Geico? How do would I describe myself. Most of these questions were ones you really need to think hard and fast on the spot. Thinking that I made it to another round of questions, I thought I did well considering the other woman that tested same time as me left after 15mins. These set of questions lasted at least 20-25mins. I was then told to wait in the lobby area AGAIN. I did maybe for all of 2 mins and I was brought back in just to say that someone would contact me tomorrow by phone or email. Well i was contacted by email before noon saying that i was not selected for a position at this time, Personally after reading others thoughts on this process, I wished I listened. I drove 90 minutes out of my way for what I was hoping was a great chance to work for a great company. Man I was wrong. I wasted 4 hours out of my day and all I got was a computer generated email saying sorry about your luck. The least they could do was take the time out like I did for them but thats too much to ask for. All I can say is if you have prior experience working at a call center then I'd say give it a shot and apply.

There are two rounds. The first round is virtual and they ask about your background and if you can handle the process. For the second-round, You will shadow someone for 20 minutes then proceed for a 40 minute interview. There are a lot of situational questions.

It was a weird process, first it was on zoom and my interviewer told me to turn off my camera because of the bandwidth issues. Then she asked three questions and provided me the job description and the hours. She then asked me if I was looking for other work and If I was currently working. I did tell her that I am currently working and she told me that I have enough time to provide my current job a two weeks notice. After the interview she told me that she was going to endorse my application for review. Then she sent me another email saying that “Your recruiter will be in touch with you for next steps”. Then in the middle of night not even 24 hrs, I get a generic email saying that I was passed on. I wanted to find out why did I get an email saying that a recruiter was going to contact me, then I passed on from someone else. This was a customer service position and during the interview she told me that I have a lot of experience. I just didn’t like during that interview I was given false hope. I would not recommend applying to this company.
