I applied for the position on Sunday and was contacted via email the next day that I would be contacted by a HR Recruiter for a phone interview. During the phone interview on Tuesday I was asked several generic interview questions such as How would you respond to an angry/upset customer? Explain your previous work history/experience? Have you ever been convicted or pled guilty to a felony or misdemenor? I answered that I had pled guilty for a misdemeanor 5 years ago and was told that it would not hinder my hiring processs as it was not a felony. I was then given the training schedule which I was told would be 3 months and given an idea of my possible work schedule. I was schedule to come in the following Monday to do the Computer testing, Claims Simulation Modules, 1:1 Interview and Shadowing, Interview with Senior Management. I successfully passed the computer typing test and simulation modules and was told to wait to have my 1:1 interview. I spoke with an older lady during my interview who was extremely rude and cold. Upon entering her office, she had a paper where I need to explain in detail my conviction, why I did it, what were my consequences and am I still on probation. From that moment forward she was extremely cold in her questions. During the first process we had to watch a video that gave you an idea of what you would be doing in claims, so when the Interviewer asked what I would do if I can't resolve my claim. I stated that I would pass it on the the second tier claims specialist and she said NO you are the only one who handles your 200-300 claims and that their isn't a second tier specialist. I told her that I concluded that answer BASED on the video that stated that's the claims process. She asked me to explain in detail what I thought I would be doing everyday and I gave her my best answer, she didn't like the fact that my answer was not exactly what the job entailed. I then told her I have never worked in claims nor insurance so I couldn't possibly know EXACTLY what I would be doing without training or experience, yet that didn't matter to her. She asked my why would I want to work at GEICO because I have a degree in something else. I didn't understand why that was so hard to comprehend, I needed a job! I'm sure not everyone who works for GEICO has a degree in INSURANCE (I know that no such degree exist). She stated that she would have to pass my application and scores to another HR Manager and it would take 5 business days for me to hear a response. I knew at that point I hadn't been hired because the position started on 9/26/2011 which was exactly 5 business days away.

It took 1 month all together from 4/16/25 to 5/13/25. Pretty lengthy process.
Step 1: 30 min behavioral-situational based assessment. The type of assessment they had me take really didn't have much to do with the actual role which was a tad bit frustrating.
Step 2: 30 minute interview. Be prepared to know your job history. The recruiter began by discussing the role, training expectations and she asked some behavioral questions. There are 2 role play scenarios. I know I did well in the interview, I was told by the recruiter she would endorse me to the hiring manager however on 5/13/25, I received a rejection letter 2 weeks after the interview (after being told it would take only 1-3 business days to hear back) which is disappointing considering I was qualified and I interviewed well.

Question 1
Discussed work history....Why did you leave your previous role? Describe your day-to-day tasks? What is your level of interest in this role?
Scenario- As a metric/goal, you've had 8 out of 10 calls error free and the goal is to have 9 out of 10 calls error free. How would react to that situation?
1st role play scenario- customer is upset because their claim was delayed by a month. customer has been calling to check status of claim for a week.
2nd role play scenario- this was one was kind of unclear but it was something about an offer for Geico Express Services for a customer to get quotes for repairs, repairs done and a rental car in an all-in-one location, how would you communicate this offer availability to the customer?

The interview process was extensive to the point of being ludicrous for what the role entails. Thankfully I did not move forward with this position and am now making about TWICE the annual salary I would have made at Geico for a far less stressful job. The most laughable thing about Geico is that they want you to have a bachelor's degree to earn the salary of a middle school dropout. Love yourself. Do not use your 4 year college education to make 22 dollars an hour. I have an associates and am doing far better. Also, hair follicle tests prior to employment? That's a bit much. What a ridiculously demanding company for a pittance of a salary. I strongly feel that this is where lost people go when they don't know what to do with themselves. Again. You can do better.

Question 1
I don't recall specific questions, but I do recall a ridiculously long "mock work" assessment over video chat with some recruiter watching my every move in silence. If this is how they expect people to excel, their work environment must be incredibly toxic.
