      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un établissement d'enseignement supérieur ou universitaire. Le processus a pris 2 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez GALLO (Dallas, TX) en avr. 2010

      Entretien

1st round interview: was a 1-1 with the recruiter on college campus Basic questions were behavioral questions such as tell me some basic things about yourself, what are your leadership skills, why are you interested in the company and the wine industry, do you have any DWI we should know about, ect. Then questions you have for the interviewer. (30mins) 2nd round interview: was another 1-1 with a sales director on campus as well. More basic behavioral questions regarding me, my work/extracurricular experiences, my leadership skills, why I'm interested in the company. Then the rest of the time she asked me questions that I had for her and the company. Be prepared to ask questions because this took up half the interview. Know your company's information and all that jazz. (30-45mins) Then later I got the chance to job shadow a sales rep. I followed him around the day to the various places he was in charge of for the wine sales distribution. (Mainly H-E-Bs, Walmart, Target, Randals, ect here in Texas) The last part of the interview was a recruiting conference in Dallas. Basically, they recruit in certain regions and then have a recruiting conference in the spring time. I think there were about 10 of us interviewees. At lunch we could mix and mingled with other E&J Gallo employees along with their distributor employees. Then we headed to the conference room and there we received a full on presentation about the company, what the job entails and what career paths it can offer you down the line. They brought out a person from each career options to come talk about their job and how wonderful it was and of course you are expected to ask questions at the end of each mini speeches. After all how E&J Gallo is a family and why you want to work for them you get ready for dinner. Dinner was really nice because they take you to some fancy restaurant in Dallas and you get to sample wines and eat fabulous food. More mix and mingle time for everyone! They get you all pumped up and ready to go! Basically, you have 3 rounds of interviews, each interview has 2 interviewers and they ask you questions that are behavioral again, why you want to be a part of the company, again what your leadership skills are (they are so big on it!), and other random questions that include your weaknesses and tell me when you struggled with something and how did you get over it. Here are some tips: They tell you that being a sales representative can lead you to many different paths including marketing, finance, ect but really deep down they are just currently looking for sales and long term sales people. I felt that I was a bit deceived by them because they are so a-okay and super dandy with sales people turning into marketing directors or other positions in the long term but really they are looking for people who are in the long run for sales. So if you want this job, you better want sales and stress why you're good at sales and how you want to continue in sales because that's what you truly want. Also, stress your leadership skills because they are incredibly big into those skills. The whole process can vary because I met some people who interviewed in the fall semester and did phone interviews as well and not hearing back until much later because their main recruiting conference for the southwestern region is in Dallas in the spring time. The people there are really nice for the most part but I felt they were also very good at brain washing you into believing how great they are and how the company is one big family! I personally had a great time interviewing with them would say my experience was a positive one except for how things ended. Unfortunately I did not receive an offer even though I felt as if I was a match for the company since it seemed like we both hit it off the entire time. However, I think because I was interested in sales but maybe communicated I might be interested in finance and marketing in the long run if the opportunity came up, had hurt my chances. And could be other reasons too but when I tried to call back and ask a couple of the interviewers how come I wasn't a good candidate or why I did not qualify for the position, the interviewers were extremely rude and really off putting. I get maybe it might be for HR reasons or what not (in college often times recruiters might tell you why you weren't a fit or even give you constructive criticism) but they were down right rude and extremely snappy. Alright! I get it, you don't want me. So basically, I think that they're definitely great at brain washing you into thinking they are the greatest company to work for. Recruiting process = fantastic and fun fun fun BUT the people = maybe not as great/nice/down to earth and wholesome as they claim.
