I recently came across a job vacancy post on LinkedIn and decided to apply. After submitting my application, I also commented on the post, mentioning that I had applied and was awaiting acknowledgement. Shortly after, I received a call, and my interview was scheduled.
As is unfortunately common in Pakistan, I was contacted by HR an hour before the interview to confirm my availability despite already acknowledging the meeting invite with a "Yes."
The interview itself left much to be desired. The interviewer, a VP, was late to join. While his camera remained off throughout the call, he insisted that I turn mine on, which felt one-sided and unprofessional. The conversation mainly revolved around a hybrid role focusing on Product Owner responsibilities rather than the pure Project Management role I had anticipated.
The tone of the interviewer was very business-like and unfriendly, lacking any human connection or relaxed element to make the discussion more engaging. It felt transactional and impersonal.
Additionally, the offered salary seemed significantly low, and the role demanded full-time onsite work - a tough ask given the current economic challenges and rising inflation.
Overall, the experience could have been more professional and candidate-friendly. It lacked the warmth and transparency.
