I spoke with someone in the office who asked to arrange a phone screen. The phone screen was friendly, constructive and interesting. I had an interview within a week of the initial phone screen -- it seemed they weren't ready for the interview time. Everyone had their dogs in the office which was ok but distracting. Interview with the hiring manager went ok - but then the HR manager jumped right into questions about my previous salary without even establishing whether I had a chance at an offer and wouldn't table the question -- very persistent and almost hostile. She said "This role is $85k" and that there was no range -- that everyone who started in the Technical PM Role would be at $85K. She introduced me to the CEO on the way out - and then I did not hear back for days. I sent several follow-up emails and finally was informed six weeks later that they went with another candidate. Overall - it was a negative recruiting process. Very unprofessional and antagonistic.
