      Entretien

Initially contacted by hiring manager; never any confirmation on where, but I have my resume posted on Monster and school boards. First step was a short call w/ manager about coming down to interview, there was not a lot of information. First interview was with hiring manager about company and amount of work involved. General message was that it was tough work, but keeping one's nose to the grindstone eventually leads to success. Also completed a lengthy application on paper that requested character references in the same field as the position I was seeking. Second interview was with branch manager who I felt was more trying to get a feel for me than to ask or test me. My second visit included an interest assessment that was also on paper and too, too long. Fourth step overall was a trip to HQ in Reading to meet with General Sales Manager, who very fairly wanted to meet me in person to get a feel for how personable I was. Very, very short and not at all stressful. Lastly was a ride-along with a current rep for half a day. It was nothing new or surprising to me, but it was helpful to see a salesman in the everyday grind. A few days afterward, I was contacted with an offer.

      Question 1

In every step of the process, the interviewer repeatedly asked about my ability to deal with rejection and to keep going. It seems like a few recent hires (and departures) were not what they were initially sized up to be.
